Who am I?

My name isChairman_Ray Ray O’Callaghan and I am married to Brenda.  I have two boys, David and Harry.  David is is in University and Harry has another few years of secondary school left.  My daughter Grace is the youngest and Grace was born with Down syndrome.   I have a busy job as manager of Marks &

Spencer, Patrick Street.  I have had the pleasure (and pain) of being the Chairperson of Down Syndrome Cork since Grace was very young.  I have used my managerial skills to oversee the running and development of DSCork in conjunction with my fellow peers  – the parents who volunteer their time to work on behalf of all the children and adults of Down Syndrome Cork

Continuing to grow

Much of 2017 was focussed on the building, development and opening of DSCork Field of Dreams. http://fieldofdreamscork.ie/

In the Spring of 2017, we rebranded and restructured some of speech and language therapy groups for the younger years and launched the very popular LEEIP (Little Explorer’s Early Intervention).  Our SLT department also launched some additional SLT groups due to popular demand.  SLT continues to be a primary focus in our fundraising.

It is daunting and exciting how quickly DSCork continues to develop.  The demands on finances are a constant source of concern and we welcome all avenues of fundraising support.

Speech and language therapy continues to be of paramount importance in what we do and without the continued support in fundraising of parents, individuals and corporates, we would not be able to survive.

Hearing the news that your baby has Down syndrome is difficult and every parent will recall the emotions when you come to terms with the diagnosis.  It is important to know that when you are ready to get in contact, you are in charge.  There is no pressure but there is support should you wish.

The DSI motto ‘Share the journey’ perfectly describes what we are about in DSCork. We are all on a journey – share with us.

Thank you for taking the time to visit our website.  You are welcome to contact us with any enquiries on 021 4300 444 or to email us at reception@dsicork.org.

Please download, complete and return the membership form.  We ask a nominal donation of €20 per year which gives you full access to all that DSCork had to offer.

Looking forward to meeting you.
