The 8th fundraising charity ball was held in the beautifully renovated Clayton Silver Springs Hotel on Saturday 5th November. Chairperson Ray O’Callaghan hosted the event with his wife Brenda.
The sponsorship and the support was, as usual overwhelming and impressive and resulted in interesting auction prizes, raffles and spot prizes.
DSCork was fortunate to have the wonderful Dr. Gerald Kean as MC again this year and he is without doubt, an entertaining and forceful addition to the evening, and manages to ‘persuade; extra ‘euro’s from willing pockets!
Guests included Ms. Kathleen Lynch, Cllr. Tony Fitzgerald, Deputy Lord Mayor and Mrs. Georgina Fitzgerald and Mr. Michael Mulcahy, Polish Consulate and CEO Hi Magazine.
With nearly 300 in attendance, it was wonderful to see many adult members of DSCork at the ball and having a great time on the dance floor. There were some very impressive moves.
DSCork recognises the support of many involved with the organisation from going above and beyond volunteering to organising fundraisers to providing services.
Jim Cuttriss of JC Products received an award for his participation in the extraordinary Race Around Ireland in August, a gruelling 5 day, 2,150 km cycle. Jim raised €13,500 for DSCork. Also included in the picture is Robert Hale of Amicus Restaurant who drove the support van for Jim on the cycle. Robert and Ursula Hale were also sponsors of the ball.

The night was a fantastic success and enormous credit is due to Deirdre Fleming, Chair of the Ball Committee, Noreen Clifford of Clifford Designs, Karen Sargent and Catherine Milton.
Each year, there is some new novel idea introduced to enhance the lively experience of the ball. This year, Noreen Clifford of Clifford Designs had the novel idea of rebranding the DSCork chocolate bars, supplied by O’Conaill’s Chocolatiers, French Church Street. Prize tickets were hidden in a select bars at the tables. The chocolate is a popular fundraiser in companies and schools and the quality chocolate is produced by Casey O’Conaill in Carrigaline. The chocolate is also popular as wedding favours. Please contact the office on 021 4300 444 if you would like to find out more.
A very sincere thank you to the staff of the Clayton Hotel and to our many sponsors detailed below:
