Have you ever thought about volunteering? Down Syndrome Cork is a voluntary organisation which supports children and adults with Down Syndrome and their parents in the city and county of Cork. We currently have over 360 families on our books. Ds Cork is dependent on the people of Cork for their financial generosity, their generosity of spirit and their generosity of time.

Would you like to be a volunteer with DS Cork, if so read on?

Have you got a skill that would be of benefit to our members in areas such as: sport, drama, music, teaching, literacy, numeracy, dance, photography, hair and beauty and computers to name but a few? Would you like to be involved in organising a youth group for our members?

You can also help in a number of other ways:

Bag Packing

Marks & Spencers kindly allow us to bag pack in Patrick Street premises once a month. Our biggest difficulty is manning these weekend bag packing dates. Could you donate 2 hours of your time a month to help us bag pack? If the answer is yes, please contact Catherine at 021 4300444 or reception@dsicork.org

Adult Activities

We organise monthly activities for our adult members. These activities include bowling, social evenings, cinema and trips away. Can you help with these activities?

Tour de Munster

The Munster Branches of DS Ireland will again benefit from the Tour de Munster. You can help in a number of ways:

  • Volunteer to Cycle
  • Help support/sponsor a cyclist
  • Help to Bucket Shake in a town/village near you on the weekend the cycle passes through.

Contact Liam at 021 4300444 or email at liam.ahern@dsicork.org

Buddy System

We have initiated a “Buddy System” for our adult members. This is where two of our adult volunteers will meet with two of our adult members for social occasions once every 4/6 weeks. Volunteers must be a minimum of 18 years, be garda vetted by Down Syndrome and be interviewed by the Protection Officer. References will also be required.
