People with Down syndrome are living longer.
This creates challenges for parents and family as well as Down Syndrome Ireland, Service Providers and the Government.
With the lack of services for our adults there is a lot of unknowns i.e. their health and work, how they are going to age, housing, keeping them fit and healthy, keeping their minds occupied with fruitful activities when the parents are no longer there or able to provide these needs.
Who's job is this? Who is going to do this?
We need to explore the above questions.
All parents and family members are invited to attend to discuss the above issues and make a plan to work towards work on getting some solutions for the needs of our adults.
It is extremely important for us as parents to start working to ensure that our adults will continue to have a quality of life going forward.
