Field Of Dreams

Built in 2017 to meet the ongoing learning needs of adults with Down syndrome across Cork City & County, the Field of Dreams was developed by Down Syndrome Ireland, Cork branch.

About Our Dream...

We opened our horticultural site in Curraheen in 2017 in partnership with the Munster Agricultural Society and called it the Field of Dreams.  Our vision and dream is to provide ongoing learning opportunities for adults with Down Syndrome.  Our courses are designed specifically for our adults to provide them with the skills and experience needed to reach their potential.  For some this will move them towards a life of greater independence and self-reliance.  For others, it will move them towards paid work.  We continue to enjoy outstanding support from the Munster Agricultural Society.

In this magical 3 acre horticultural site built to meet our specific needs, we focus on providing days that are productive, busy, meaningful, and full of fun

Our Site

The Field of Dreams currently boasts a training room, a commercial grade kitchen with a cafe area, 3 polytunnels, a market garden, a sensory garden, a remembrance garden, a fruit garden, an orchard, a covered courtyard and recreational areas.  We also have a care farm element to the site, with sheep and chickens.

However, we have even bigger dreams so stay posted for plans of further developments.
